This is an option in Windows 7 and can be easily disabled.

Click Start or tap the Windows key and click Control Panel from the right-hand list. Once the Control Panel opens and populates, click Mouse.

In the Mouse Properties dialog click the Pointer Options tab and uncheck Hide pointer while typing. Click OK in the lower right.

As this is a Windows system issue and not specifically Office related, I will move this thread to Windows 7, Personalization and Ease of Access.

This does not work,  my hide pointer while typing is not checked, I have tried everything I can think of and the problem of my cursor disappearing while typing still exists.

I found out how to fix it.

In Outlook, go to options>mail>editor options...>advanced>un-check use smart cursoring. That got it working right for me!

    Hope this helps...!

I have found that if you save your work and shut the computer down and then turn it back on it solves the problem until it happens again. Then  you have to shut it down and start up again. I loose the cursor a couple of times a week and this is the only thing I have found that works with out wiping the hard drive clean. A restart does not always do the trick, but so far a complete shut down has.

I thought I had the problem fixed this week by enabling many of the programs that I had disabled.  It seemed to have fixed the problem but after only a few hours the problem came back.  Again it does not matter as you say what program you are using or what browser one is using the cursor still disappear's.  If I open a new email page and sit and wait it will usually stop blinking and disappear.  I can't type any keystrokes at all until I left click.  I also notice that the top of the screen will change colors, when the cursor goes away the screen above the one your working in will turn a slightly lighter blue, once I left click to get the cursor back the screen above will turn a little darker.

I also still can not find a solution on the web.  Frustrating very frustrating for sure.
