    Instead of Win + S, do a Win + Shift + S.

    Hi Rolly,

Let’s try the following steps to create the snipping tool shortcut and check if it helps.

    a.    Start Windows 8. Press the keys [Windows] + [Q] to display all Apps.

    b.    Right-click the Snipping Tool icon.

    c.    Click Open File Location in the lower section.

    d.    Right click on snipping tool.

    e.    Select the option properties and click on shortcut.

    f.     Change the shortcut key accordingly, (press the key Ctrl)

You may also refer to the steps from the following Microsoft article.

Snipping Tool as tile or shortcut in the task bar (desktop):  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2790489/en-us

(Applicable for Windows 8.1 as well)

    Hope it helps.

    Hi Vijin,

Appreciate your effort providing answer, I did tried the above steps before and still wouldn't satisfied on the way as used with previous version. I'm not sure if your able to screen capture the drop down menus or right clicks options with Windows 8.1 in my side pressing the assigned key for snipping tools it only open the application and still need to press New to start unlike the previous version as I pressed the assigned key immediately grayed out the screen and even right click menu still able to capture.
