How do I fix Windows Update error code 8007371B?

My computer is having this error every time I try updating it and I can't seem to fix the problem. I've already tried the WindowsUpdateDiagnostic tool, but it didn't help. I'm also trying to reset my PC, but it keeps running into a problem. Please help!

I tried Method 2 and got the following:  Error: 740 ....."Elevated permissions are required to run DISM.  Use an elevated command prompt to complete these tasks"

    What's a "elevated permission"??

    Hi Russell,

0x8007371B ERROR_SXS_TRANSACTION_CLOSURE_INCOMPLETE One or more required members of the transaction are not present.

As the error mentions, this issue can occur if something in the installation file or process doesn’t work properly.

    Here’s what you can try:

Method 1: Reset Windows Update Components.

Resetting Windows Update Components includes resetting the services required for Windows Updates and Winsock, resetting the proxy connection, if any, clearing the BITS queue and installing that latest Windows Update Agent.

**How do I reset Windows Update components?**

Important:  This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    322756 (**http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/**)

Method 2: Use Deployment Image Servicing and Management to fix this issue.

These commands will check for damaged system files and will try to repair them by replacing the damaged files with a good copy.

Follow these steps to do so:

    a. PressWindows key + X and click on Command Prompt (Admin).

    b. Type these two commands. Press Enter after each:

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /ScanhealthDISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Restart the computer, install all the pending updates and check if the issue is resolved.

Note: These commands may take a bit of time to complete running.

Please get back to us with the status of the issue.

I've tried the first method but I'm stuck on the 11th step. I'm trying to install the latest version of Windows Update Agent but I can't find the "Update and Recovery" tab.

Also, while in the command script, the following BITS files gave me an error,

"The module was loaded but the entry-point was not found."

    mshtml.dll

    shdocvw.dll

    browseui.dll

    msxml.dll

    gpkcsp.dll

    sccbase.dll

    slbcsp.dll

    initpki.dll

    wuaueng1.dll

    wucltui.dll

    wuweb.dll

    qmgr.dll

    muweb.dll
