Hi Jessen,
After I tried a lot of different ways, one simple method worked for me.
- Open Windows explorer
- On the top navigation bar chose computer>map network drive
- Clearly specify the full path of the directory e.g. "\Nasname\directory" or "\10.10.10.10\folder" in the "Folder". Do not browse and connect because this will give the same "0x80070035" error.
- Make sure you tick both "Reconnect at sign-in" and "Connect using different credentials".
- Click Finish and when asked for credentials put in your admin/user credentials.
While I understand that the NAS needs to know which user is it allowing through but this happens even when I have turned on guest-login and only on Windows 8.1. Well, this simple way of mapping a network drive worked for me which I totally skipped trying to think of more complex ways. Hope this helps someone if not everyone.
