Laptop not recognizing USB or built-in devices

Hello, I've had my laptop for almost a year now and it recently started acting strange. It started when I got a new USB device that somehow when I attempted to use it, made all of my USB ports unusable. Now nothing that I plug into my USB ports is recognized or even acknowledged by my computer, although the devices themselves react as if they were plugged in properly.

Additionally, after the USB failures, my touch screen no longer responds to touch. I see it as a hidden device in my Device Manager and it says that the touch screen isn't plugged in, but it's a laptop so I don't understand this.  I'm having the same problem with my built-in webcam as well. It says that it's not connected, but it is integrated.

The device that may have started all these problems was a Datel Action Replay PowerSaves 3DS that I was going to use for backing up my Pokemon game save files if that helps at all.

Thanks in advance, and I really appreciate any help you can offer.

ASUS laptop, the external device is an Asus Blu-ray/HD-DVD player/rewriter. All other external devices function very well

What you were offered was "actual help."  If you don't tell us what you've tried already we have no way of knowing.   Have you tried doing a system restore to a point before that device was plugged in the first time?

I've already tried that. It didn't work.

I'm also concerned about my built-in devices. I kinda need actual help, not just bot responses.... so anyone?
