    Hi Ramamurti,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

The might occur if the Bluetooth drivers is not updated or there might be any hardware change.

In order to help you better please provide the following information:

    1. What is the make and model of the computer?
    2. Are you able transfer the files or pictures from other device to the computer?
    3. Did you make any changes to the computer prior to the issue?
    4. Check whether you are able to see the Bluetooth icon on the Task bar.

Refer to below link for how to use Bluetooth on Windows 8.1

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/add-view-manage-devices-printers

    Method 1.

Run the troubleshooter and check if that helps.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Press the ‘Windows + W’ key on the keyboard.
    2. Type"troubleshooting" in the search box without quotes and then hit on Enter Key.
    3. Click on Hardware and Soundand run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.
    4. Follow the On screen instructions. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if this helps.

If issue still persist, refer to below method.

    Method 2:

I would also suggest you to start the Bluetooth service and set it to Automatic:

    1. Press Windows Key + R Key
    2. In RUN Box, type “Services.msc” without quotes and hit on Enter Key.
    3. Right click on Bluetooth support service and click on Properties.
    4. Set the Startup type as Automatic and then click Start under Service status
    5. Click on OK.

    Method 3

Try to Uninstall and Reinstall the Bluetooth Drivers.

Follow these steps to uninstall and reinstall the driver:

    Step 1

    Uninstall the Bluetooth Device Drivers

    1. Press Windows Key + R Key.
    2. In RUN Box, type “devmgmt.msc” without quotes and hit on Enter Key.

    3. Search for the Bluetooth device from the device list, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” you may select that and then remove the corrupted drivers from the computer.

    1. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and the restart the computer if prompted.

After the restart, you may again open the Device Manager and then click on the “Scan for hardware changes” button at the top of the Device Manager window and check if Windows 8.1 detects the Bluetooth device and installs an appropriate driver for it automatically. If that happens, then check if it resolves the issue. If the issue persists, then go with the next step.

    Step 2:

Check the Windows updates for any latest driver updates.

Check in Windows updates if any driver updates are available. If so, install the same and check if it helps.

    1. Press “Windows Logo” + “Wkeys from the keyboard.
    2. Type “Updates” in the search bar and click on the icon “Windows Update” from the search result.
    3. On the “Windows Update” window, click on the link: “Check for updates” from the left hand side of the window to receive a fresh list of updates.
    4. If the updates are available, then install all the updates listed there.

If Windows Update does not offer the latest Windows 8.1 driver, then try the next step.

    Step 3

Update Driver Software from the Manufacturer’s website:

Go to the manufacturer’s  website and search for the latest Windows 8.1 drivers available for the Bluetooth device model and then install it by following the instructions given in the website.

Revert with the required information, so that we can help you in resolving the issue. For any Windows related assistance in the future, feel free to contact us and we will be glad to help

    Hi Ramamurti,

    Thank you for your response.

The error code 43 that you are getting is due to one of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some manner.

A few USB devices when connected to a port of an Enhanced Host Controller (EHCI) might not enumerate on Windows 8.1 but work on Windows 8. In Windows 8.1, the failure is reported as error code 43 in Device Manager. One of the reasons is that the device reports itself as supporting a USB version greater than 2.00, but does not provide the required BOS descriptor.

    Method 1

Try to follow the steps mentioned in the below link and check if it helps.

If issue still persist, refer to below method.

    Method 2

    Step 1

    1 .Press Windows Key + R Key.

    1. Type “devmgmt.msc” without quotes and hit on Enter Key.
    2. Expand USB Controllers, right-click on it, and then click on Uninstall.

Restart your computer after USB controller has been uninstalled.
