Strange new overseas location of IP address

Recently I have been asked to confirm that it was me who logged in from a server in another country.  I have not left my home in the USA, yet my IP address shows I am in Sweden.  It has also shown me to be logging in from other coutries, as well, like France and Norway.  I have run a full virus and malware scan using the Microsoft security tool, with nothing being found, and my ISP says they know nothing about how this could have happened. I am concerned I am being hacked or at least someone is messing with my account, but I don't know what to do. The other users of my WIFI are not experiencing the same issue.  Any suggestions?

You have a computer virus that's routing your web traffic through a proxy.  Hackers do this because it allows them to intercept data when you're accessing online shopping or your web banking.  It's a primary security fault of Windows.

You'll need to get an experienced virus removal tech to clean this up for you because this process is probably more than you can do on your own, and if it's not done right then you'll be giving your credit card and web banking information away to the hackers who infected your machine.

You have a choice - spend the money to get someone who is experienced and stay away from Geek Squad, or get ready for the fun of identity theft.

Thank you. What still troubles me is that when I would do a Google search, for example, the results would be in a different language and the Google URL would also be from that country.  Surely that can't be caused by failed logon attempts, right?

Thank you.  I agree that someone with a higher level of expertise will be needed.  I'm still wondering why a full virus scan with up-to-date defnitions didn't catch this particular virus, but, like you said, the Windows virus security may be lacking.  I'm curious why you advise not to use the Geek Squad from Best Buy...I have never used any kind of hands-on technical support of this nature, and I would have thought the Geek Squad was reputable and reliable.

Thank you. We use 3 email providers - Yahoo, Gmail and Outlook.  The problem was first noticed when I would do a Google search, and the results were in a different language. I'm not going to change passwords until I'm sure no one has unauthorized access to my accounts.  All Windows updates have been installed.

What email are you using? And where did you get this message?

Run Windows Update and install all updates.

    Try change your password.
