Where can Essentials 2009 version be downloaded?

Split from this thread.

Is there anywhere that the Essentials 2009 version can still be downloaded?

On http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/essentials-install-offline-faq, the 2009 English link is no longer active.

I hate the 2011 and 2012 interfaces, so won't be using those, but would love to get 2009 back.

    Thanks for your reply.

After an hour or so of searching, I found non-malicious msi files of the parts of Essentials 2009 that I wanted (Photo Gallery and Move Maker) on third party sites. Installed and they work perfectly.

Such a shame to see an earlier version of a product so vastly better than later versions!

    Hi there,

Since you seek help on a forum page it would be nice and appropriate to help others with the location you discovered for this download.

    All the best,

    Zoli

    Hi,

I'm not sure what the rules are on this forum regarding link sharing, but in the interest of helping others to get the good (2009) version back, I've had a look through my history and found what I think were the links I used. Looking at the file size I think it was them.

I see that the downloads from wl.dlservice.microsoft.com seem to be crippled when accessing them from W7 x64. This may be because the version is only supported on XP, and only on 32-bit at that. So an easy way to limit downloads is to examine the user agent string and abort for any x64 OS and any OS > 5999. Could you cope with a different UI language? Most of the non-English downloads seem to function ...

You may find a download at a third-party site, but you should be extremely wary of potentially unwanted stuff and of downright malware.
