Original Title: Install Script

I have tried to download an updated version of Nikon's picture transferring software.  The program has downloaded successfully into my computer, but when I try to actually install it, I keep getting a message saying that the "Install Script engine is missing from this machine..."  and the program is not actually installed - it just sits there in my Downloads.  How can I get the "Install Script engine..."  into my computer so I can complete the download of the updated software?  Thank you for any help you can give me.

I am having the same issue with trying to download the latest View NX program from Nikon

Does Nikon have a support site?

    https://support.nikonusa.com/app/home

Looks like you could ask a question there.

Otherwise without any other clues about what is supposed to happen and what is happening I would run ProcMon to help find and supplement whatever diagnostics are being generated by the event.

    Good luck

Hello: First I wish to thank Karthik Vengaloor for your efforts and suggestions.  I tried them, and I was not successful, most likely due to my own ineptness.

The version of the Nikon software I am trying to install is:

    S-VNX2_-020801WF-NSAEN-64BIT_(1).exe

I am running Windows 8.1, and this program is "sitting" in my Downloads folder, but when I click on it to try to complete the installation, it doesn't work.

I went to Microsoft Fixit, and the Program Install and Uninstall trouble shooter.  I selected Nikon Transfer.  After a brief time, the screen showed "Issue Found:  Corrupt Patch Registry Keys    Fixed (with a green check showing)  and Corrupt Install or Uninstall a program     Fixed (another green check)

I clicked NEXT, and I was asked to try the action which had caused me the problem.  I clicked on the Nikon program shown above.  I got a window saying:   "Windows Installer.  This action is only valid for products that are currently installed"  I clicked OK.   That led to a window which said "Before you continue.   This installer will install View NX2 and Nikon Transfer 2, removing the previously installed version of View NX and/or Nikon Transfer.  To launch the Nikon Transfer 2, click the Transfer icon on the Toolbar in View NX2.  You can transfer files in the same way you did with Nikon Transfer."

I clicked Continue.  I got the same "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed"  message.

I do not know what to do.  Any help will be much appreciated.

    Hi William,

    1.    What is the exact\complete error message?

    2.    Which version Nikon software are you trying to install?

The InstallShield script engine, or IsScript.msi, is required for InstallShield installer files. If the InstallShield script engine on your computer is corrupted, you will receive this error message. You might be facing this issue due to compatibility issues. I suggest you to install the software in compatibility mode and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

You can follow the link given below to install the software in compatibility mode.

    What is program compatibility?

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/what-program-compatibility

Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows****

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/older-programs-compatible-version-windows

    Method 2:

If the issue persists even after installing the software in compatibility mode, I suggest you to try the following steps and check.

    a.    Right-click the file you are installing, then click "Properties."

    b.    Click the "Version" tab at the top of the "Properties" window.

    c.    Read the "File Version" number at the top of the Properties window under the "Version" tab.

    d.    Open the InstallShield IsScript.msi downloads website (see Resources).

    e.    Download the IsScript script engine installer version corresponding to the "File Version" number. Click "Open" in your web browser when prompted.

    f.     Start the IsScript.msi installer by double-clicking the "IsScript.msi" file in the downloaded Zip folder.

    g.    Click "Next" in the welcome window.

    h.    Read the license agreement in the "License Agreement" window. If you agree, click "I Accept," then "Next."

    i.      Install the IsScript.msi Script Engine by clicking "Install" in the "Ready to Install the Program" window.

    j.     Finish the installation by clicking "Finish" when prompted.
