Windows activation error 0x8007232b

I am not the most technically savvy and this activation problem has been a dreadful nightmare. I'm nearing the stage where I might just buy a fresh copy of windows 8, with another product key. I have no clue why it wouldn't activate properly the first go around, so I contacted Microsoft support and they mentioned that the key that was installed wasn't a typical windows 8.1 key, but instead a volume licenced key. I do not own a small business, nor does this computer belong to a large corporation. The woman I spoke with was kind enough to give me a number to contact in order to activate windows, but then they transferred to another department and so on for about 5 more phone call transfers. The final representative I spoke with told me that volume licenced keys are for business only, not for personal use, and he wouldn't activate it. Should I have just lied and said it was for a business? I'm at my wit's end, I don't know what else to do. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

I get this error code: Error code: 0x8007232B and it displays the message "windows can't activate right now. Try activating windows later. If that doesn't work contact your system administrator. As much as I would love to have a conversation with myself(the sole user of this PC), I don't think that would get me anywhere.

Any help with this issue would be appreciated beyond belief.

    Press Windows key + X

    Click Command Prompt (Admin)

At the command prompt, enter the following command

    slmgr.vbs -dlv

    Hit Enter on your keyboard

A dialog will appear on screen

You can try the following in the mean time:

    Retrieve your product key:

    https://neosmart.net/blog/2014/windows-10-embedded-product-key-tool/#more-3188

Designed for users of Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10, our embedded product key tool will retrieve and display the Windows setup product key embedded in the BIOS or EFI, allowing you to store it for safe-keeping or use it to reinstall Windows with an official Windows setup image.

    Press Windows key + R

    Type: slui.exe 3

    Hit Enter

Enter the product key and click Next to activate over the Internet.

    OK

I used a few programs to obtain a key on the pc but when i enter it in the normal activation window it says the key is incorrect. Activating it online doesn't work, it asks me to contact the administrator again. I've even went as far as creating an slq server and using the VAMT 3 tool but when i enter the key again it says something about being unable to find the path to the dns. I sincerely appreciate your time for looking into the matter.

Honestly, could I just purchase a volume licenced key to avoid all of this hassle?

Sorry I'm a little unfamiliar with the specific posting rules, but I figured a week was adequate to "bump" the topic. If there isn't an official answer for my particular problem, how do I go about getting a non vlc version of windows 8?
