I have Windows 8 and it is connected to my modem. It had internet connection until yesterday when it lost internet connection. My other system (Windows 7) is also connected to the modem and it connects just fine.
My Windows 8 machine (apart from having terrible menu options and a difficult time accessing the control panel or drivers) gives me a message when I try to issue an "ipconfig /renew"
Windows IP Configuration
An error occurred while renewing interface Ethernet : The DHCP client has obtained an IP address that is already in use on this network. The local interface will be disabled until the DHCP client can obtain a new address.
Steps: I have uninstalled the Device a few times and then "Checked for Device changes" in the Device manager. The same issue happens every time.
Question: Why is Windows 8 such a pain? Why does Windows 8 "auto-mess-up" my network adapter? Why won't it allow me to release the DHCP? Why does it get a "duplicate IP address"?
