Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at my issue.

I have been through my new devices support and they have sent me a new Docking Station.  Unfortunately my pc still does not recognize the device.

Or at least visually.  I hear a sound when I turn it on, but there's no knew drive showing.

I would greatly appreciate some help.

Thank you

    Hello Mike,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

This issue can be caused due to driver corruption. Let’s try to identify the actual cause and troubleshoot accordingly.

However, before we proceed I would require some more information to assist you better.

    1. What are the model of the computer?
    2. Are you able to use other USB devices?

I would suggest you to try the following methods:

    Method 1:

Run hardware and devices troubleshooter and check.

    a) Press Windows key + W on your keyboard.

    b) Type Troubleshooting and click Troubleshooting.

    c) Click on View All.

    d) Click on Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.

    e) Click on Next button to run the troubleshooter.

If the above troubleshooter didn’t help, then try method 2.

    Method 2:

Uninstall the drivers for USB [Universal Serial bus] host controllerand restart the computer. Let the Windows install the generic drivers and then see if it helps you to fix the issue.

Follow the steps to uninstall & reinstall the USB [Universal Serial bus] host controller from device manager.

    1. Press Windows key + X, click on Device Manager.
    2. Device Manager Window will be open.
    3. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    4. In the list of hardware categories, find and expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    5. Right-click on every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click on Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
    6. Restart the computer. On restart, Windows will re-install the generic drivers automatically.
    7. Plug in the removable USB device & Docking station to make sure that the issue is resolved.

Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance with Windows related issues, we’ll be glad to assist you.

    Hi,

Does your dock work on any USB Port... 2.0, or 3.0 ?

I had a USB 3.0 docking station that would work on USB 2.0, and one of the two USB 3.0 controllers on my machines... same issues on two machines...

It turned out that the docking station needed a firmware update for it to work on one of the controllers...

I think it worked on a ASMedia USB 3.0 controller, but not on the Intel...
