AOP Framework crash: What is this and why am I getting this notification?

Details: Acer Laptop with Windows 8.1

I recently "refreshed" my computer because I had some problems I thought it would fix.

Since then, I occasionally get a message that says "AOP Framework has crashed".

What's interesting is that this message doesn't appear as a pop up window or one line message across the bottom of the screen.  It appears as a pair of angel wings holding the notification in a little sign, swinging playfully below it, rising up the right side of my screen as if an angel rising to heaven.

What is this, and why did I only begin getting this message after I refreshed my computer?

Hi Tony,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. I understand that you are having an issue regarding AOP framework crash pop ups.

Acer Open Platform (AOP) Framework is part of the Acer AcerCloud project.

I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below and check if that works:

Step 1:

Uninstall AOP framework:

a. Right-click the screen's bottom-left corner, click Control Panel and then under Programs, Click Uninstall a Program.(Add/Remove programs)

b. When you find the program AOP Framework, click it and Click Uninstall. You can also right-click on the program to find Uninstallation in the menu that appears.

c. Follow the prompts. A progress bar shows you how long it will take to remove AOP Framework.

Step 2:

Download and install the app you want to use on Windows PC from Acer BYOC Apps website. Acer BYOC Apps download website:  https://www.cloud.acer.com/downloads

After updating, check if the version is latest one.

Acer Portal: v3.03.2002

abMedia: v2.06.2001

abPhoto: v3.00.2013

abDocs: v1.05.2003

abFiles: v2.00.3009

Step 3:

Make sure both the app you want to use and [AOP Framework] are in [Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features], then launch the app you want to use shortcut on the desktop to use.

If the issue still occurs, please do not hesitate to post again or contact us via acercloud_******@cloud.acer.com to let us know the app you want to use and the screenshot of the error message.

Follow the steps mentioned below:

How to take the screenshot

Hope that helps.

Let us know the status and we will be glad to assist you further for any issues or queries.

    Good day,

I too keep getting this 'angel with Updater Crashed' notification... and did the following as suggested by in-installing Framework... but still keep getting that 'angel' ... it is annoying and wanted to know how do I permanently stop it.

Plus DOES Windows 10 Acer really need the following to be installed?:  acPortal ... acMedia ... acPhoto .... acDocs .... acFiles
