Sound recorder: how to find and use files

I have checked all older posts on Sound Recorder and still can't find help. I've made some recordings using Sound Recorder but now have no idea how to access them. I don't like this idea of "less is more" where you can't find help or instructions anymore. There is NOTHING on the Sound Recorder page to help you with anything.

I was hoping to access the files I made and then burn a CD with them. Is this possible?

I did try one suggestion where it said to open Sound Recorder, click on the file you want and then go to the upper right corner to select "Share." When I did that I got a message that I have no applications with which to share my recordings. I have Real Player and WIndows Media Player but can't figure out how to use them to search for these recordings.

Really frustrated. Wish I had an old-school tape recorder!

The tablet version of Sound Recorder (the full screen app) doesn't store to the file system.

What you'll want to do is use the normal desktop sound recorder (the one that came with Windows Vista and 7 is still included in 8).  To get to it easily, go to your Start screen and type the word "sound".  You'll know it's the desktop one from the icon it shows:

Yes I spent much of my time with the same problem. I guess we must like the sound of our own voice. I am a musician wasted my time trying to make it work

I agree with the stupidity of this.  I spent time recording things and have no way to save them to my computer.  If this app was designed for a tablet why include it in the PC that I bought instead of making a different program that is PC friendly.  I am quite upset with this Microsoft.

Hi ACEYOU\_BAKO, can you try this out?  Go to your Start screen and then type on your keyboard "sound".  When you press the first letter (S), it should pop open some search results that continue to filter as you type more letters.

    • The search result with the microphone icon (first one in my picture below) is the sound recorder from Windows 7 and Windows Vista (because nothing was actually removed in Windows 8).
    • The search result with the orange/white icon (last one in my picture below) is the 'modern app' sound recorder from the app store, which you can download here if you don't have it.

If I may jump in here and express the same frustrations others have. I have Windows 8.1. There is no error message. I too would like to access my recordings and Share them. The only place I see them is when I open Sound Recorder. I cant' find the recordings or the app when I open File manager.

Furthermore, Windows help says that in order to share the recordings, all one has to do is hit the Share Charm. Well, there is no Share Charm to hit when I open the Sound Recorder app. All there is, is a list of recordings, a Play button, a Trim button, a Delete button, and a Rename button.
