I just bought a My Cloud from Western Digital. I set it up in my network with out any problems.  I proceeded to set it up to automatically backup files from my laptop using options in my file history area.  it backed up files no problem.  Today I wake up the a notification on my computer stating that I have to

'reenter your network credentials'. I'm not quite sure what credentials it is referring to.  What are network credentials?  When i clock on this option it asks me for a user name and password, but will not accept the ones that i think it is referring to.  So I guess I'm asking what user name and password I should use to get this automatic back up running again.  Oh and I am running window 8.

found another solution that worked for me:

put a '' in front of your WDMYCLOUD username and then use the password you setup. For instance if your username on the WD is 'john' then put '\john' for username and then type in your password and see if that doesn't let you in.

    Hi,

Did you change the network password?

Credential Manager allows you to store credentials, such as user names and passwords that you use to log on to websites or other computers on a network. By storing your credentials, Windows can automatically log you on to websites or other computers. Credentials are saved in special folders on your computer called vaults. Windows and programs (such as web browsers) can securely give the credentials in the vaults to other computers and websites.

To add a password to your Windows vault, refer to the following steps:

    1.    Press Windows Key + X and select Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety (or clicking User Accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clicking User Accounts.

    2.    In the left pane, click Manage your credentials.

    3.    Click Add a Windows credential.

    4.    In the Internet or network address box, type the name of the computer on the network that you want to access. This can be the NetBIOS name (example: server1) or DNS name (example: server1.fabrikam.com).

    5.    In the User name and Password boxes, type the user name and password that you use for that computer or website, and then click OK.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi,

I would suggest you to re-configure the backup settings and check if it helps.

If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to disable the Security Software and check if it helps.

Note: ****Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Hope it helps.

ok now my computer will not back up files to my 'my cloud' HD because it says the network name is no longer available.  This is more difficult than I thought it would be. I get a message that says 'could not reassociate with file history data'. any suggestions?
