How to remove the our surfing virus

The virus is called our surfing. I have done things such as uninstalling programmes, changing home page and search engine URL, refreshed Firefox, removed suspicious toolbars and extensions and ran HitmanPro and CloudSystem. All that remains is that everytime I restart the computer, an additional new tab of our surfing will be displayed. If I close Firefox, it would not appear, only upon restart. I have deleted about:config which have the term oursurfing and removed cpuminer from task manager. But are there other services in task manager and settings in about:config that I should know about? Is there the ultimate solution to rid of this virus?

P.S. I also tried the "prefs.js" method, but I could not find the "browser.newtab.url" preference at all.

I edited my previous reply saying it works now. I just had to do another re-scan with adware cleaner. Thank you for your reply.

    Brandon,

So I understand that the removal guide didn't help  for Firefox but that it helped for Chrome?

Did you follow all steps provided in http://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-oursurfing-com/ ?

Did you reset Firefox? (Step 6)

Did you run various scans with each of the tools, as previously suggested?

What is your Anti-Virus product? Did you ask their support?

You write I presume it is something to do with about:config.

Did you ask Firefox support about it?

If still no luck after having tried all and everything mentioned above, you might want to ask for assisted free malware removal help on one of the sites listed here: http://uniteagainstmalware.com/ and here: http://asap.maddoktor2.com/

    Good luck...

Thank you for your quick reply but it doesn't seem to work. Miraculously, Chrome is now unharmed but Firefox still suffers from this. I presume it is something to do with about:config. (Which, as aforementioned, I have tried doing it before)

Edit: It works now. Just had to do another re-scan with adware cleaner. Thank you so much.
