Do You Want to Delete Prompt in File Explorer

A few months ago I went on a deleting spree of files I didn't need and during that I turned off the prompt that kept asking if I really wanted to delete said files. I can't remember if the prompt said a way to turn it back on. Now, however, I want to turn that prompt back on so I don't accidentally delete any files I might need. Does anybody know how to turn this back on? Any help with this would be great.

Hi Jaime,

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community.

I am sorry to know that you are unable to get delete confirmation window to delete files or not in File Explorer. Do not worry, will assist you with the issue.

Does it happen on all the programs or is it only on the File Explorer?

Log into Windows using administrator account and then try the steps below.

  1. Right-click on Recycle Bin icon on Desktop and select Properties.
  2. Select Local drive(C). Now enable "Display delete confirmation dialog" option and apply the changes.

Note: It could be grayed out and the option might be disabled and can't be enabled by users if that the option was disabled by the Administrator or other users intentionally or accidentally using Group Policy or Windows Registry.

Hope this helps in resolving the issue. If issue persists, do get back to us. We will be happy to assist you.
