The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

My question is simply this:

Why does my Verbatim Store and Go 4 gb show as an error in device manager.

I run Win 8.1

This is the error message:

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There are no compatible drivers for this device.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.

It goes without saying I have deleted the device, tried to update drivers ect ect ect.......It still shows as an error.

BTW the device runs on other PC,s.

Doe anyone have any ideas?

No, this information is not helpful as I don't know what device is the problem that causes Code 28.  I do not have a Verbatim product on my PC (that I know of).
