As per the description, I understand that you are experiencing issue with you are not able to click on anything with the trackpad in the laptop.
I can understand the inconvenience you have experienced and will try my best to help you.
This issue might have occurred due to corrupted touchpad drivers or the drivers are not installed properly in the system.
In order to understand the issue more clearly, please provide me with the following information.
- Is there any pending Windows update for “mouse and touchpad”?
- Are you getting any error message? If yes, what is the exact error message along with the error code?
- Do you see any exclamation mark under “Mouse and pointing devices” in Device Manager?
- What is the complete model number of your Lenovo Ideal Touch laptop?
**To check for any exclamation mark in device manager,**please follow the steps given below.
- Press Windows key + X.
- Click on Device manager.
- Select Human Interface Devices.
- Check if you see any error.
Note: Also check if the touch pad drivers are disabled. If they are disabled, right click on it and click on enable.
I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if it helps.
Method 1:
Run inbuilt Hardware and Device troubleshooter and check if it works. Follow the steps given below.
Note: If your computer is having problems with a recently installed device or other hardware, try using the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter to fix the problem. It checks for common issues and makes sure that any new device or hardware attached to your computer was installed correctly.
- Press Windows Key +R, type Control Panel.
- Type troubleshooting in the search bar, click on troubleshooting.
- Click on Hardware and Sound, click on Hardware and Devices.
- Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.
If the issue persists, please follow method 2.
Method 2:
I would suggest you to update the touchpad drivers from the manufacturer website and check if it works.
Note: Also check if there are any optional updates offered.
If the issue persists, please follow method 3.
Method 3:
Try to uninstall and reinstall the touchpad drivers. Please follow the steps given below and check if the issue is resolved.
- On the desktop, press Windows key + R and type devmgmt.msc and press Enter to open the Device Manager.
- Expand Keyboard and Touchpad.
- Right-click on the device.
- Select uninstall and follow the prompted steps.
- Restart the computer when prompted. This will re-install the drivers.
