No, that's not correct. Some versions have numbers and other have
alphabetical names (like Me, XP and Vista)
but what happened to 9?
For whatever reason, Microsoft decided to skip that number and follow
8.1 with 10. Why did they do that? I've heard lots of theories, but
nobody knows for sure why they did it, or even who at Microsoft
decided to do it.
But personally, I don't care what they call a version, alphabetical
name or numerical name, sequential number or not sequential. As far as
I'm concerned, it doesn't matter.
And by the way, Microsoft isn't the only company to surprise people
with their names. Another example is Corel, who, called the next
version after WordPerfect 12 WordPerfect X3. They've since released
WordPerfect X4, X5, X6, and X7. Will the next version be X8? Who
knows?
Or are there going to be random releases of other future windows version?
And who knows what Microsoft will do with names in the future. Again,
I've heard theories, but I don't know what will happen, and I don't
care. I'll be patient and wait and see.
