My wireless Logitech mouse all of a sudden stopped working.

Ok so i got a wireless Logitech mouse a few months ago the model is a m325 and i have never had any problems but today i went to turn it on but the green light turns on almost every time for like 3 seconds then turns off, and occasionally it will works at first for a few seconds but then it stops, and the light on the under side never turns on. There is an on switch and i have tried turning it off and on, i have also tried unplugging the USB and plugging it back in and finally i have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it but nothing works. My computer reads the mouse as working and installed but the mouse itself still doesn't work. And i have tried replacing the batteries with completely new ones but it still doesn't work. If it is any consolation, my computer is a Windows 8.1 Touchscreen HP AMD A8 processor 500 GB Hard drive 4 GB RAM and it's 64-Bit Operating system. Is there anything i can do to make the mouse work or is it just dead?

    cheap answer:

I tried all the above and more for my Logitech MX mouse including trying a 2nd Logitech mouse, different receivers, every USB port on my computer. One thing I did notice - the 2nd entry (created when the receiver is installed) under 'Mice and other pointing devices'  had the same label as the first, 'HID-compliant mouse' and I understand it should have 'logitech' in its name.

Finally, I bought a (new) Microsoft mouse, installed the receiver, some software was downloaded automatically and my mouse now works. YES!! The device is labeled 'Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Mouse...'

All the many hours of research I did via google was via my XP with I/E 8 - very painful.

I would have really liked solving the problem myself instead of skirting it and I got fairly good at maneuvering around via the keyboard. But this is so much better and now I can badmouth Logitech at every opportunity.

BTW, it's incredibly annoying when someone poises an answer with a command that requires a mouse. While I finally uncovered the keyboard commands I needed it took time and there were  still many times when I didn't know what to do and I just flailed about, sort of like the chickens one might see on the farm.

Thank you for the reply, i tried it but it didn't work, I think it just might be the mouse crapping out. Thanks anyway for the Reply.

    Hi LyndaFord,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

I would suggest you to connect you’re mouse to another USB port and check what happens. If still issue persists run the hardware and device troubleshooter and check if it helps.

    Run the Hardware Troubleshooter

The Hardware Troubleshooter is an automated tool which checks the hardware on the computer for any known issues and provides the details on how to fix them. Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter.

    a) Press “Windows Logo” + “W” keys from the keyboard.

    b) Type “Troubleshooting” in the search bar and press “Enter”.

    c) In the “Troubleshooting” window, click on “View All” on the left pane.

    d) Click on “Hardware and Devices”.

    e) Click on “Advanced” and then click on “Run as Administrator”.

    f) Click “Next” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

If still issue persists, there might be an issue with mouse so I suggest you to contact the Logitech support. Refer to the below link.

Hope this resolves the issue. If the issue persists, you can write to us and we will be glad to assist you further.
