Why is my Lumia 640 restarting repeatedly?

I just bought this phone 2 weeks ago, and it was working perfectly until this morning, where it started to turn itself off, boot up, and then just turn off again, repeating the process every few minutes.  I've already tried using the windows phone recovery tool, but it keeps doing it so often now that I can't even get it to read on my computer. The phone is charged, I haven't installed anything on it in over a week, and that was one drive.

Why is this happening, and what can I do?

Update: I managed to fix the problem by doing a hard reboot, and starting over from scratch. I was unable to use anyones suggestions on the grounds that the phone would not stay on long enough to implement them.

Hey genius the phone wont stay on long enough to go to a site to get the update to fix it. And you work for Microsoft? Lol that explains why we are having phone issues.

Installing the latest update will solve the problem. I had the same problem on the same day I had the phone. A few days later there was an update to fix the problem and since then it hasn't rebooted.

    Hope this was useful.
