Original title: Kodak ESP 5 problem

Before I installed windows 8.1 I was able to print and scan documents and pictures.

Now I only can print.  I am unable to scan.

I am using version KODAK AIO version 7.6.12.20.

The message I get is

"An error occurs while opening the scanner. Please check the scanner's status and the scanner connection (code 100-2106)"

Please let me know what to do.

Because people are still updating to Windows 8.1 (including me) in anticipation of Windows 10, people might still be encountering this problem. I found the solution at Kodak Support here:

Cannot scan on the all-in-one printer from a computer running WINDOWS 8

the URL:

http://support.en.kodak.com/app/answers/detail/a\_id/48083/~/cannot-scan-on-the-all-in-one-printer-from-a-computer-running-windows-8/selected/true

Yes, it says Windows 8, but the solution just worked for me minutes ago on the laptop I updated to 8.1 a couple of weeks ago.

Let's hope the solution is as simple when we move to Windows 10.

This did not work when I had the same issue and tried it myself.   Kodak says that this specific patch is only for version 7.6 and the version installed is 7.7.

    Hi Daryl,

Please download and install the patch available at http://support.en.kodak.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1276/selected/true

If the issue persists, consider uninstalling and reinstalling the printer drivers and check.

    http://support.en.kodak.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/36460/selected/true

    • Unplug the printer.
    • Go to Control Panel, Programs and features and locate KODAK AIO software and click on Uninstall.
    • Restart the computer and then download the drivers from the above link and install the printer.

Hope this information helps. If you have any concerns, let us know.
