    <edited by moderator for clarity)

    Hold down the RIGHT shift key for 8 seconds.

    <following added by moderator>

    The sound is produced as part of the "Filter Keys" feature which in turn is part of the "Ease of Access Center" feature set.  See screenshot below for details.

    Hi,

    1. Did you make any changes on the computer prior to the issue?
    2. What is the make and model of the computer?
    3. What is the make and model number of the keyboard?
    4. Is the issue confined with any particular application?

    You may try these steps to disable the keyboard sounds and check.

    a. Click "Start."

    b. Click "Control Panel."

    c. Click the "Sounds" tab.

    d. Click on the listing for the sound that currently plays when an action is performed on your keyboard. This will select it. Click the drop down menu on screen and select "None." Click "Apply" to disable the keyboard sound.

    Ha - Thanks! I have a wireless Logitech keyboard and this was really annoying. I held down the left Shift and it didn't seem to work. Tried it with the right Shift and it did. Perhaps it doesn't matter. There was a satisfying whoosh noise when it disabled and now my typing is peaceful and I don't have to hear it over my music station.

    Thanks! It works by holding down the left Shift key on my Asus laptop.

    However, every time I restart my laptop, it comes back on.

    Is there a way to turn it off permanently?
