Wordperfect Office 2002 with Windows 8.1 64-bit

I have a Windows 8.1 machine and on  my XP machine I had Wordperfect Office 2002.  I like that program.

I installed it on my computer when I got it in April 2014, I had some issues only recently and I had do a REFRESH.  That worked fine.  I took my XP machine out of service.

But I am debating should I re-install Wordperfect Office 2002, the version of Wordperfect is VERSION 10

I have a Windows 8.1 64 bit system.  I had installed Wordperfect office 2002, which includes Wordperfect Version 10.  I see on the windows compatibility site Version 8 looks to be compatible.

Well I installed this Wordperfect Office 2002 (version 10 of WordPerfect) on my Win 8.1 64 bit system in April 2014.  It worked fine.

I didn't notice it listed in Program and Features in the list of programs you can UNINSTALL, although it had it's own uninstaller.

But just couple days ago I had to do a system refresh.  I am debating whether I should put it back on my computer.

It worked.  It stayed on my system for around 5 months, NO PROBLEM.

Any opinions?

My question is this:  Is the reliability of your system and the reliability of WordPerfect important to you?  If so, do not use an ancient version.  Buy the newest version and use that.

On your link--12 users found it was not compatible. That is the real test. Even WP 11 is not compatible. Click on the Action Recommended link and it says Buy a new paid version.

Make a system image to store on an external drive and install your version and test it yourself. You can uninstall it if it doesn't work for you. That should not cause problems but  if  it does, restore the system image. IMO twelve year old software should not be used on windows 8.1. It could cause problems. Win 8.1 does not allow programs to alter system files--no dlls or registry changes. Most old programs did make system changes.
