How to play CD/DVD on Windows Media Player

Original title: movie and CD

Evening

I would like to play a movie/jpg files concurrently with a cd for music.

Examples:

  1. Start a Music CD and it plays/hear sounds
  2. Wait until Screen saver activates (wait time is 1 minute)
  3. DVD player indicated that CD was being read (light flashed)
  4. No sound from, CD player
  5. Screen Saver did not activate

A. Start a movie that has no sound

B. Insert CD into DVD player and expect system to play the CD

C. Movie plays but no sound comes from music CD in DVD player.

I can create a movie that contains multiple JPG pictures and than attach music to the movie and that works.

Anyway is there an option or software that will support my requirement. I may have not explained what I am trying to accomplish very well. But hope you can give me some insight.

I thought the Windows Media player would function  in this scenario but did not get it to work as I wanted.  Basically I am looking for multi-threaded applications to execute through the multi-threaded operating system and perform their functions independently of each other.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Bob

    Evening

On my Dell Laptop, I am able to play a Video in Windows Media Player and concurrently a music DVD via Cyberlink DVD player. As a result that resolves one problem.

Is it possible to have a music DVD play and then have Screen Saver activate to display a series of JPG in a specific folder with multiple subfolders.  Screen Saver is randomized and runs continuously until I exit from the Scrren Savwe function.  I have Screen Saver kick in after one minute to display a series of JPG files for a membership group. The Screen Saver usually runs for about 1 hour and then the meeting commences with the laptop powered off.

    Hi Bob,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I will definitely assist you.

To understand the issue better, I would like to know do you have two DVD/CD player on your PC?

As I understand that you want to play music along with movie which has not sound. Please correct me if I am wrong.

You can play the movie and also sound simultaneously. To do so you might have to use two different media player. One you can play audio and another Movie file. Windows media player can play one file you might have to use another third party media player to play another.

Hope this information is helpful. If you need any further assistance on Windows, let us know we will be glad to assist.

    Evening

I use a Dell Laptop Inspiron 15R which has 1 DVD player.  I use the DVD player for the music CD and have the movie on the hard drive.

I understand about the 2 Media players.  Do you recommend a 2nd media player - preferably a free version?

I have a portable DVD player that I can attach to a USB port if that would be helpful.

    Thanks

    Bob
