It's not about launching the game, but installing it from the DVD
GTA IV won't work on Windows 10
Hi,
I have a problem when doing the setup for Grand Theft Auto IV. I got it when the game launched and worked fine on Windows 7 and 8. When I upgraded to Windows 10 I updated all my devices on my PC so I got less lag in the game. When I inserted the disk to my DVD and run it, it was fine during the Rockstar Social Club, but when installing the game files, I received the following error. "Your system isn't compatible with %P." What does it even mean? I clicked the link but sent me to a page to install Windows XP Service Pack 3. I was not going to downgrade from 10 to XP. I did the Troubleshoot Compatibility and tried everything but still get the error. Help. I downloaded the latest update of Games for Windows Live by the way.

2016-09-12T17:57:18+00:00 GTA IV is the first game i downloaded off of steam. I was very excited at first BUT!
I spent litterly a whole day trying to figure out how the game would even start.
Here is what I did.
NOTE: Be sure your anit virus/malware is off I.E. windows defender, norton Etc.
FIRST have game for windows live app
after you download game (you should restart your computer after the download
go to file exploer and open up your c drive
look for programs(x86) double click look for steam
then look for steam apps double click on that
double click on the folder that says "common"
double click on the GTA IV folder then it will split in to GTA IV and INSTALLERS
double click on GTA IV folder
create a text document with the headline that says commandline.txt
open up that file and inside of it type -nomemrestrict -norestrictions
NOTE: that you need to press the spacebar twice then type -nomemrestrict -norestrictions
LAST:(if you have a crap PC like mine) go to your control panel and search for display
go to change display settings and select the lowest resoultion and apply those changes
MOST IMPORTANT! TO LAUNCH THE GAME PROPLEY AFTER YOU HAVE DONE ALL OF THIS CRAP
YOU NEED TO GO IN THE GTA IV FOLDER LIKE HOW YOU DID BEFORE LOOK FOR A DOCUMENT THAT READS "LaunchGTAIV"
double click on that ingnore the social club window and play offline ENJOY!

2015-08-08T21:34:06+00:00 That seems to be a game specific error. You should have visited THEM first.
Might have found this:
You may want to try that (sounds like you may have, but you may not have done the specific steps/ran it in the specific way they state) and, if it still fails - contact them:

Or look through their online community:
