Windows 10 won't run minecraft in fullscreen in lower resolution

I just upgraded to windows 10, and the only game I've installed so far is Minecraft. I have a 4K screen but my pc is not powerful enough to run Minecraft in 4K at a reasonable framerate. So I've installed the optifine mod which allows me to change Minecraft's resolution. This worked fine in windows 8.1 but now that I have windows 10 and try to run Minecraft in fullscreen in a lower resolution, I see this:

I tried running vanilla Minecraft (Minecraft without mods) and lowering the resolution manually in the windows setting but I got the same result. And this is a problem with windows not with the game because it always worked on windows 8.1 but not on windows 10!

Does anyone know how I can fix this???

For DPI issues, right-click the game EXE, properties, compatibility then "Disable Display scaling..."

Other games have this issue too.

Hi, locate your 'javaw.exe', right click and go to 'Properties' and tick 'Disable display scaling on high DPI settings'. That should solve your problem. Also, Minecraft installs its own Java installation in its installation directory, which I found to be a few Java versions behind, so when in the launcher click 'Edit Profile' and under 'Java Settings' tick 'Executable' and make sure to point it to your main installation of Java (mine is at 'C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_66\bin\javaw.exe' for example). On top of that, my machine has two usable GPU's (An Intel integrated GPU and a high powered nVidia GPU). Make sure 'javaw.exe' uses the right GPU (for me it MUST be set to use my nVidia GPU for best performance) because you might have problems there too.

Same with me (4k, optifine, minecraft resolution problems, unplayable fps). Windows 10 misidentified the graphics card and installing the correct drivers helped. I mean, I can see through my hand but I can play which is nice.

    NarayahLewandowski:

dpi is 250%. Does everything work fine if you set it to 100%? you have to log off and back in after you change it to 100%.

I'll have this looked at. graphic hardware and driver version would be helpful. What is your dpi set too and desktop resolution?
