Can't get rid of Driver update notices

About a week ago I wanted to see if my drivers were up to date for Windows. I Googled it and clicked on a site that looked honest. Then they started asking me for money, which I don't have. I immediately closed the page and ever since I've been getting pop-ups stating that my drivers are out of date. Then today I went to NASCAR.com to make some picks and wanted to see the running order for the truck race tonight. It gave me the first 20 or so drivers and a thing that said "for more click here". which is normal. I tried to click there and a big pop-up stating that I couldn't go any further because my drivers were out of date. Never had a problem before. So I ran my Malware Bytes program that I just ran 3 days ago and found only 3 PUPs. Here they are:

Threat                                        Category                                             Type                  Location

PUP Optional PC Keeper.C    Potentially Unwanted Program    Registry Key    HKLM\Software…eeper_RASA

PUP Optional PC Keeper.C    Potentially Unwanted Program    Registry Key    HKLM\Software…eeper_RASMANCS

PUP Optional PC Keeper.C    Potentially Unwanted Program    Registry Value  HKU\S-1-5-21-26...8-1003\Software

Does this mean anything to anybody? How do I get these pop-ups stating that my drivers are out of date to stop? I'm computer illiterate so I'll need an easy answer. Thanks.

Okay. Thanks for coming across with the link to restore  Windows 7 for me. It is absolutely impossible for me to do that restore. It asks for SP-1 stuff that I have no idea what that is. It asks for a Windows 7 permission number that I know nothing about. In short. I am not computer literate enough to do the 25 or so steps it has. I guess I'm a lost cause. I need to save up for a new computer but it will have to come after a car. On my fixed income this will take years. And I won't live that long. I don't know what I will do without my computer. It is the only link to the outside world.

There was a guy at the store I bought this laptop from that gave me a 2 or 3 key restore that after pushing the keys it started to restore everything and it took a long time but it worked. Unfortunately he does not work there anymore. Do you know the keys to push for that kind of update?

Another thing, I tried to save all my pictures and put a CD-RW disc in and highlighted all the pictures and clicked to 'send to' CD and it kept asking for a writable disc which a CD-RW is. What can I do to save my pics to disc?

    I still don't understand this:

"Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.

(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)"

I've tried 100 times to try to do this and it makes no sense to me.

Thanks Bruce for your time and efforts. See if you can find me an easy way to fix my computer. I'm still getting the Driver Out of Date pop-ups.

Seems that Bruce has abandoned me so is there anyone else out there that can help me? I backed up all my personal files and now I want to restore my computer to factory settings. I still can't figure out what it means to "swipe in from the right edge of the screen". I have Windows 7 not 8, if that helps anyone.

I was unable to do anything with my computer or the websites I go to. My websites wouldn't let me sign in or nothing.  Some sites told me that I needed a cookie to access their site. I restored my computer to a different time, just 3 days earlier. It seemed to fix that immediate problem but I don't believe it's fixed any of the underlying problems my computer has. I ran MalwareBytes again and it came up with nothing.  Did a disc cleanup and defragmented.

A computer geek once gave me a simple way to restore my computer by pushing 2 or 3 keys, and walla, it was restoring. Can someone give me that shortcut. I'll use it in a heartbeat.

    Bruce,

I clicked on your link and this is the instructions I got to Refresh my computer:

    To refresh your PC

    1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.

(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.) 2. Tap or click Update and recovery, and then tap or click Recovery. 3. Under Refresh your PC without affecting your files, tap or click Get started. 4. Follow the instructions on the screen.

    1.  Swipe (?) in from right edge of screen. (???) I get nothing to tap and I don't understand what "Swipe" means. Click on it? I see nothing to click onor swipe. I am using a mouse but see no Settings to click on. Opened the gear icon and saw nothing there.

2., 3., 4., --- Can't do anything with them until I find what the heck I'm suppose to click on.

I'm so sorry Bruce but I told you I was a computer illiterate buffoon. Take a break. This can wait until morning, that is if you're still willing to try to help me. Thanks. so much for all you've done so far.

I'm going to have a doozy of a question if I have to Restore. Like what and how do I  save all my files and the programs that I've downloaded over the years. That's a lot of saving. I've got some CDs I think the call them but don't know what's on them. Might have to sacrifice whatever is on them.

    Later.

I assume you didn't let anyone take control of your computer when this happened, correct? If you didn't, start here.

Remove Adware & PUPs with these tools. Check for updates first and then scan with each one at a time until your machine is clean.

    AdwCleaner (Free)
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

    Malwarebytes (Get the free version)
    https://www.malwarebytes.org/free/

When offered, uncheck: Enable free trial of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium.

    Junkware Removal Tool (Free)
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/junkware-removal-tool/

    HitmanPro (30 day free trial)
    http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro

If necessary, reset your browsers. For IE:

I live alone and nobody touches my computer.

Am I to assume that I click on each of the links you list and do what they say do? If so, I will even though I'll end up needing someone to do the hard parts. Like I said, I'm stupid.

    • Clicked on AdwCleaner and took me to a page that said download now. Clicked on it and it didn't download anything but wanted me to fix Windows issues or something. It was listed as Highly Recommended. Clicked on that to fix my Window's issues and all I got was Script Error pop-ups continuously. In between the Script Errors I clicked on the Window's issues download and it didn't download anything. Don't know what I'm doing as I said. Will try the next link you list.
    • Went to the next link, Malwarebytes, and I already have it on my computer but I never added the premium. So I clicked your link and clicked the 14 day free trial of the premium and it stated that if the download didn't start soon click on the Download Now button. I did that. NOTHING! on the next one.
    • Junkware Removal Tool. Clicked on it and it took me to the same site as the AdwCleaner thing went to. Same issues. Same results. NOTHING! Wanted me to fix the Window's errors again and I, like a dumb a.. clicked on it with same results with all the Script Error messages.

I give up for now unless you can steer me in the right direction.
