How do you make a formal complaint to Microsoft?? Without getting scammed!!

You wouldn't think it would be so difficult to find information on how to make a formal complaint to a large multinational corporation like Microsoft. And yet I've spent hours googling and reading other people's questions re same on this community. No one appears to have an answer. I've used Microsoft's Contact Us 'Live Chat' which was very illuminating. I asked what I thought was a fairly straight forward question ... 'could I have an email address where I could send a formal complaint to Microsoft'

I took the liberty of screencapping the conversation ... in which the respondent initially directed me to answerdesk.microsoft.com [which charges for tech support] and then gave me a telephone number for Microsoft Support. I explained that I live in the UK … I would like a UK telephone contact number. She apologised…  and then it gets very interesting. She proceeded to give me the telephone number [not in fact a UK number] for a third party company 'Global Tech Support',  which also charges for support. And isn’t linked to Microsoft. But does appear to be linked to scammers. Bearing in mind, this was someone in Microsoft who gave me this number to call.

I asked for an email address in order to make a formal complaint to Microsoft. It's that simple. I don't want to be given information on how to pay more money into Microsoft's coffers. Or be given directions to a scam organisation. Does Microsoft know what’s going on in its own company?

Does anyone have a contact where customers can send a formal complaint to Microsoft???

After 5 hours of phone calls  being on hold for 2 hours and still not speaking to someone on the other side of the world and at cost of phone calls and time ive still not had my blue screen of death windows 10 update resolved . I think bill gates should invest his Billion's into some sort of customer service support instead of this pathetic forum and call centres in god knows where ,also how can i get acess to the internet with a laptop that doesn't work because the operating systems do not work ? . I updated my window's 7 to 10 and its killed my laptop ,the support ive received has been absolutely disgusting and non existant  , vista and windows 8 were rubbish , the contastant updates and crashes and now because of the 10 update my laptop is now usless , and as soon as I PAY someone to fix this " free" upgrade i will be using a mac

    "spam them with emails" ...

Excuse me. Since when is asking for an email address to make a formal complaint 'spamming'? Thanks to the person who politely responded after you I now have an address where I can sent a complaint.

Finally. Thank you so much. :D

[though I think it's pretty disgusting that when asking Microsoft for a contact to make a formal complaint, I'm sent to a third party organisation .... doesn't really make sense]

I agree with you, contacting MS by email is not spamming, so Shawn's reply was out of line. And email legally counts as suitable for formal correspondence. I too have a complaint to file so you're not alone. Ha, we're not alone, not by a long shot. Bon chance.

    Contact Methods are here:  https://support.microsoft.com/ContactUs

As nearly every corporation, government, or large entity on planet earth, you cannot just spam them with emails.  If you want to do something formally, you send a letter.
