Whenever I try to turn on this option ON, the button stays a few moments greyed-out and then returns to OFF position (default) wthout any explanation.

This fixed my issue.  Thank you Terry!

Hey MS guy!  You kind of sound like a jerk.  And also if I just wanted to sync the profile picture I would have done it manually ages ago.  I wanted (and I assume so did Paul) the ability for my Facebook contacts to sync with the People app.

    Hi Paul,

Thank you for the reply. I would suggest you follow the steps given below and check if it helps.

    Run the App Troubleshooter.

The Apps Troubleshooter is an automated tool which we have developed to address a number of known issues that can prevent the Apps from running properly. This troubleshooter automatically fixes some issues, including suboptimal screen resolution, incorrect security or account settings etc. You can click on this link to download and run the Apps troubleshooter.

There is a work around for this issue. You can manually set the picture which is there on your Facebook profile to your Windows User account. But before that make sure that you download and save the photo on your computer at any location. Follow the steps given below to add the photo.

    1. Press Windows Key + Q Key.
    2. Type Accounts and click on Your account settings option from the search results.
    3. Click on Your account option present on the left hand side of the screen.
    4. Click on the Browse button and go to the location where you have saved the photos.

    Hope this helps.
