My Canon MG5150 printer was working perfectly then stopped printing. Replaced inks but still no joy before it cut out completely. No power, nothing. A friend had printer probs when W10 was eventually installed, could that be it?

My printer's connected to the computer all the time... isn't everyone's?
It was a remark by a friend who had problems with mouse and scanner when upgrading to Win10 that put the thought into my head... being technically challenged, to me anything is possible..
I fear you're right and that a new printer might be the answer, but I've had the MG5150 less than three years and expected it to last a bit longer.
Dunno if the Win10 upgrade will ever happen... thanks anyway...
Sounds to me like your printer issues had nothing to do with the failed upgrade to Win10 (unless the printer was connected to the computer at the time).
Methinks it's time for a new printer, one that's fully-compatible with Win10. [The MG5150 is pretty old, as far as the printer manufacturering business is concerned.]
Tip: Install the new printer after you upgrade to Win10.
Fails to install; but now the d****d printer has lost power so takes priority...
Hi,
If Windows 10 will not install on your system check with your system/motherboard
maker and their forums for any known issues. Be sure the system is compatible
and that you have the latest BIOS, chipset drivers, and major drivers installed.
Uninstall any 3 party antivirus and other incompatible programs.

If this is not a driver issue then there is a setting or hardware problem and you
will need to contact Canon.
As OEM Canon is responsible for the proper operation of the printer and their
supplied drivers. Check with Canon Support, their on-line documentation, and
drivers.
Good chance you need to update or re-install the latest available driver.
