*Original Title: Can't get quicktime 7.75.80.95 to install on my new computer running windows 8.1

I've tried just about everything to get this running.  I need to be able to go frame by frame with a .mov file and quicktime is the only player that will do that.  I've tried installing it in compatibility mode but I get the same error:

Good thing I kept my old computer but I need my new one to do this work.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

thanks!

I dont know if this was solved for everyone. Here is the answer:

You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:

it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.

Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:

iTunes

QuickTime

Apple Software Update

Apple Mobile Device Support

Bonjour

Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)

Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components

Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

and install from scratch

My guess is there was a mistake first install and it left some lingering files. You delete those reboot and good to go. To delete those last tricky files you have to go into program data folder which is hidden.

Hope this helps!

Not sure why but running as administrator all of the time fixes the issue at least until I upgrade to pro. Thanks for all of the help!

I am not positive if this is what you are looking for but have you tried turning off the windows feature for windows media player?

    1. Right click on windows symbol
    2. Select control panel from popup list
    3. Click program and features
    4. Click "turn windows features on or off" on the left side

    1. Expand Media features
    2. Uncheck "windows media player"

This might solve the issue you are experiencing.

    thanks for the input.

None of these were able to fix the problem.

This is a new computer that I have used disk copy to copy my files from my old computer to the new one.  This is the last issue I'm having with the new computer.

I've tried removing everything itunes and quicktime related from my machine and nothing has worked.  The files I'm getting to download are from the apple site - version 7.75.8095

I'm not sure what else to do.

    thanks!

    Hi,

Please help me with the following information:

    1. How are installing it, did you download this software or are you installing through a CD/DVD?
    2. What is the make and model of the computer?

If you are installing trough the DVD, I would suggest you to download and install the Apple QuickTime 7.75 and see if it installs successfully.

Method 1: If the issue still exists I would suggest you to place the computer in clean boot state and then try to install.
