From the past few months I am facing a facing with a adapter called Windows TAP adapter v9.This adapter despite of being disabled,re-enables itself again after every boot. The same problem happens after deleting this adapter from the device manager.

The main problem happens after deleting this adapter ie, the whole internet connectivity gets lost.

Some says that it way to due to installation of VMWare workstation. But my question is how a workstation adapter can control the whole internet connectivity on my pc.

So please help me....because i want to  get rid of this problem as soon as possible.

    Hello Abhinav,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community Forum.

As per the problem description, I understand that Windows TAP Adapter V9 get re-enabled automatically after reboot even after removing the adapter from Device Manager.

I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.

    1. Do you use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) on your computer?
    2. Do you remember any significant software or hardware changes made to the computer just before this issue appeared for the first time?

Generally this issue appears due to VPN, some of our community members have got this problem resolved by completely deleting Cyberghost VPN from the computer.

On addition to that you may refer to the suggestions by JSisthe on September 10 2010 in the thread below, this can also be a possible fix for the issue in question.

Go to C:\program files there should be a "TAP Windows" folder, open and uninstall the VPN Adapter, all is done

this issue mostly happens because of a VPN app installation

Best option: Reset or refresh your PC and get rid of the problem completely. I've done it just a month ago and there is no reappearance of Tap Windows adopters till now!
