Original title:MS Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 v1.0 I have just had to install a new had disk after a catastrophic disk crash.  I have a MS Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 v1.0.  I no longer have the pass key required.  I seem to remember that is was something like 0000 or 1234 when I installed it last, i.e. a generic standard number.  Can you cast some light on this or tell me where I find it on the device, please?  I no longer have the literature or paperwork that came with it.

I don't know if there is something that can fix this problem for windows 10, because its been connected since windows 8 , but recently it disconnected and it wont reconnect.  I specifically remember it being 0000, but it doesnt work anymore (I also tried 1234 and other things like that) but none of it works.

    Hi fffoxxxey,

Most devices let you choose your own passkey or you can use a passkey generated by Windows. To have Windows generate a passkey for you, run the Add Bluetooth Device Wizard.

Refer the steps mentioned in the link below to generate a passkey or pairing code

Where do I get a passkey or pairing code?

For more information, refer the links below

Ever since I upgraded to Windows 8 my bluetooth mouse no longer connects and keeps prompting me for a pass code, i can either enter a code or hit cancel, and since no one knows this code it seems my mouse is now worthless. I hate when you upgrade to a new OS and all your peripherals instantly become worthless.

You will have to pair the mouse with the computer again by holding down the little button on the bottom till the light flashes green/red, then adding the mouse via Devices.

    Excellent!!!

Very helpful. You have to hold down on the pairing button through the process. The wizard then searches for the Driver update, and installs it. The light blinks red, and green alternatively, and at the end of the process, bingo - mouse begins to work again!!

    Thanks for your help!!
