Windows Defender isn't scanning external USB Drive

Hi,

i'm running Windows 8.1 64-bit and when i try to scan my external usb-drive with windows defender, it simply skips it completely.

If i try a custom scan and only select the external drive, he simply returne "0 Elements have been scanned."

It's an Intenso with 3TB like this one: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B007AG1V1Y/ref=pd\_lpo\_sbs\_dp\_ss\_2?pf\_rd\_p=556245207&pf\_rd\_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf\_rd\_t=201&pf\_rd\_i=B008I9CSE6&pf\_rd\_m=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&pf\_rd\_r=1J22DXFJVKHR7EAP06TP

What is the problem here?

No settings dialog? Is this Windows 8 or Windows 10? In Windows 10, settings is accessed via the gear in the upper right of the main interface for Defender, but there is no option for scan removable drives.

On the main page, select to perform a custom scan. Select your USB drive and scan.

    Hi ,

You can scan usb drive with defender. On the Home page choose custom scan then select the usb drive from the list it shws you then click scan and it's done.

Does the computer detect the hard drive when you use it for other things?

    I hope it'll help.

    Hi Steve,

the "Scan removable drives"-checkbox was, in fact, not checked. I checked it, but the problem remains.

Open Defender and go to settings/advanced.

Is the Scan removable drives option checked?
