    Hi,

    ·          Was it working before?

    ·          Were there any changes made to the computer prior to this issue?

Step 1: Verify that the Scanner is detected by the Computer.

If the scanner is recognized by the computer, it will be displayed under "Imaging devices" in Device Manager.

    a.     On the Start menu, right-click My Computer, then select Properties.

    b.     On the Hardware tab, select Device Manager.

Step 2: Run the following Microsoft Fix it:

“Hardware devices are not working or are not detected in Windows “:  http://support.microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/en-us

I have tried the fix above and it did not work.  My scanner connects as it tells me scanner is warming up. But then I get the error Internal Error has occurred. Scanner driver will be closed. Code: 5,202,54.

Please Help. I have two scanners and both had been working perfectly. Now neither one will scan.

    My Solution:

    1. Launch Device Manager
    2. Right Click on scanner
    3. Clicked Properties
    4. Click on the "Driver" Tab
    5. Click "Uninstall"
    6. Re-plug scanner after un-installation
    7. Done

    • Only the scanner not working and never had any problem before, until the error code 5.202.54 appeared.
    • Downloaded and installed updated driver - hey presto, scanner works again. Turned off printer and computer.
    • Next day the dreaded error code reappears.
    • Re-installed same driver  but no effect. Error code reappears.
    • Now what ?

Clicked on Start but there was no "My Computer" to select.
