This message thread talks about using forcing the Visioneer USB 5800 and USB 7600 scanners to use
the Visioneer USB 9650 driver for which there is a Win7/Vista/XP driver available on the Visioneer web site.
I was successful in getting my 7600 to work on Windows 7 using this suggestion. The buttons on the scanner will
no longer work, but many programs include the ability to scan from a Twain device, such as the built in Windows
Fax & Scan, as mentioned above.

Thanks for the info.
Can you provide a bit more details, please?
Exactly how did you use this method with your Visioneer One Touch 7600 scanner?
Exactly how did you obtain the 5800 driver/software for XP (OneTouch version 3.0)?
Did you download 5800.303110.exe from Visioneer OneTouch 5800 USB Drivers and Manuals?
Which driver for Visioneer 9650 did you download?
Was it 9650.46101103.EN.msi from Visioneer 9650 USB?
I'm trying to avoid a error and ending up with the “Blue Screen of Death”.
Hi,
I'll try to help you out, though my experience with Vista is very limited.
The message thread link I gave you was originally about the Visioneer 5800, but it was the user called
Venner who figured out that the 'core scanner driver' for the 9650 will also work on the 7600. So, you can
ignore any references to the 5800 and just focus on the 7600.
Does your Visioneer 7600 appear in the Vista 'Device Manager'? (Google how to get into the
Vista 'Device Manager' if you don't know how).
If Vista is completely unaware of your Visioneer 7600, you can probably download the Windows 2000 driver
from Visioneer and install that just so Vista recognizes the 7600 even if it doesn't work. Here is the link.
http://support.visioneer.com/downloads/drivers/7600/7600u\_PaperPort6x.EN.exe
Now, per the instructions from the message by Venner:
"download and install the Vista/Windows 7 driver for the Visioneer 9650:
(the one you found was the correct one; 9650.46101103.EN.msi from Visioneer 9650 USB)
it is close enough that it will work. Choose the unknown device in Device Manager,
update the driver, tell it you will pick from list, choose Imaging Devices,
scroll down to Visioneer, pick the 9650 driver."
You'll probably get some error messages from Vista complaining about the 9650 driver, which you
can ignore. Keep in mind that Paperport, as well as the buttons on the Scanner will no longer work, but
you can use any of several different programs to scan with, such as the Windows Fax & Scan program
mentioned above. Usually, you pull down the File menu and look for an option to import or scan
and it will probably say something like "TWAIN32 Visioneer Scanner as the scanning device.
Good luck.
