I have the following error when trying to use my scanner :

Error - A problem prevented the document from being scanned. Please try again, or for troubleshooting information, see Help and Support or the information that came with the scanner" while trying to scan from a Kyocera FSC2126 with Windows 8.1

If I run thew preview scan I get this error instead: An error occurred while setting scanner properties, If another progam is scanning, please wait for it to complete and try again.

I can go to my printer and scan and email a document to myself ( which it frustrating and not time effective ) so I know there is notihng wrong with the scanner.

Microsoft techs have logged in remotely and cannot seem to fix it either

I have literally spent hours trying to fix it,  please help?

    Hello,

Thank you for posting your question on Microsoft community.

I appreciate you for providing details about the issue.

This issue may occur due to corrupt Windows scanner related service or scanner drivers.

I would suggest you to run hardware and devices troubleshooter and check the issue. Please follow these steps:

    a. Press Windows + W keys, type troubleshooting in search box and press Enter.

    b. Click "View all" and then click "Hardware and Devices".

    c. Click "Next" and follow on-screen instructions.

Please also check if Windows image acquisition service is running and set as automatic. Please follow these steps:

    a. Press Windows + R keys, type services.msc in run box and press Enter.

    b. Right click "Windows Image Acquisition" and click properties.

    c. Make sure that service status is running and startup type is automatic.

    d. If not, select startup type as automatic and click "Start".

    e. Click apply and ok.

    I hope this information helps.

Please do let us know if you need any further assistance.

    Thank you

I am sorry but nothing will fix this unless you reinstall windows or hook up the scanner to the usb port.  I have this issue that only fixes when I reinstall windows but when I don't want to do that I am forced to connect the multi-function printer to the usb port.   I can still print fine though.

I'm also having the same issue and tried both of these steps on Windows 10 and nothing. My scanner was working just fine this past week and it all of a sudden stopped working.

Do you have any other possible causes for this annoying issue?
