Hi all,

I've Nokia Lumia 1020. Software version Windows phone 8.1 - Denim

Felt down many times and finally broke the screen.

The phone is working, but can't see anything and can't put my PIN to unlock it when connect to PC via USB port.

Do someone know way or is there a tool for that to take my data from the device?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Max

    Hi MaximKanev

Use project my screen app to project the phone screen to PC and then unlock the phone. And move all your data to sd card and then remove it from phone. Abd then repair the screen from Nokia care. Download the app from here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?e_pi=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C6780141824

Hello everybody who is  searching for a way to use the Project my screen app without being able to allow its access because of a broken screen. I had almost given up on looking trough discussion threads, already furstrated with the unexplicable prompt-window that microsoft came up with as I stumbled upon the solution. When the app connects to the phone and  prompts you to press 'yes' to allows it to take control of the phone's display you need to intuitively allocate the place on the phone's screen in the app where the button should be and press it. I gave it a try a couple of times before it worked as it was not working when the app was full-screen or worked just halfway trough - giving me control to what happens on the phone's screen but not projecting it on the app, but after just a couple of minutes it worked as it should.

    Hi All,

I had a broken lumia 535 with pin code (screen) locked. Installed the softw. on my pc and everything went easy. The program will show you a black screen, but ignore that and try to pull up the screen lock with your mouse (as you do usually with your finger) or push the on/off button on your phone as you usually unlock it... The screen should appear and you can unlock with your pin ("typing" with the mouse).

I could save some very precious pictures and videos about my son. Thank you MS. :)

Based on my experience will not work for the first time, keep trying, sometimes you have to "push"the buttons more than one time...

    hi Max,

    just my own experience:

I have the same problem. the screen is totally unusable, but USB works and when phone is connected I see it on my PC. However the phone itself is locked, and here's the catch 22: the phone screen prompts you if you want to allow screen projection - how do I say yes? Not possible I don't think without a working screen.

Secondly if you somehow magically touch a part of the screen where the Ok button is located, then it projects to screen. Great. Now the phone is locked, and attempt to enter pin on the broken screen, and fail because the alignment on the screen is totally out (and pitch black) but sometimes responds, unsuccessfully multiple times, making the "wait xxx minutes" become larger with the more failed attempts.

The real question for me would be: 1.how can u accept project screen on a non working screen ? (do the buttons also work possibly?) and 2. if projected on the screen, how can I use the projected screen (from my pc) to send the commands back to the phone so I can unlock the drive and remove my pictures, or is thie even possible? remember the 1020 also takes very large hi-def pics, 10mb JPGs, over a period of time is quite a few GB, and thus haven't been uploaded to onedrive.

    regards,

    Stef
