Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter on Windows 7 or 10 Tech Preview device?

i have a few windows 7 laptops and one running windows 10 tech preview and while windows 10 just seems to not yet have support at all, windows 7 should have application based support for miracast based display's.

one laptop is running win 7 and has intel Centrino wireless card which I believe is capable of WiDi.  is this then capable of miracast to the MWDA?  how do I do this if it is possible?

second laptop has an upgraded wifi card to the  Atheros Killer wireless N 1103 tri band.  also running windows 7.  I don't believe that WiDi is capable to this card but it should be certantly capable of Miracast via software.

last laptop also has killer 1103 card but this one has windows 10 tech preview on it.

currently im having the 1366x768 res issue with my SP3 and my droid razr M cannot connect to miracast display's at all so I have yet to see wireless display work in the native res of 1920x1080.

any help with this would be great and if any Microsoft people are reading this MWDA needs software patch on the SP3 ASAP ive seen a lot of complaints about this res issue.  some recommend disableing wifi and bt to make it work then reconnecting everything in a certain order.  look into it please and fix asap I want my $64 (after tax) chrome cast to work... or else I could have just bought chrome cast.

    Hi Ben,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

You can solve many problems by installing the latest drivers for your PC and the latest firmware for your wireless display or Miracast adapter. For more info about installing drivers on your PC, see **Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware**. To update firmware on your wireless display or adapter, go to the Support section of the manufacturer's website, search on your specific device, and follow their instructions to download and install that firmware.

I would suggest you to check the article below and check.

    Miracast with Windows 7

Hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reply in case you face any other issues with Windows in future.

I have the full release of windows 10 pro 64-bit.  The miracast adapter app does not recognize that the system is connected to the Microsoft wireless display adapter.

I have also updated my Surface Pro 3 to Windows 10 Full version and the Microsoft adapter connects but then comes up with a driver error and kicks it off. Changed from Auto to 2.4ghz on the adapter band which allowed it to at least see it, Have updated the driver to the newest and greatest but No, not connecting

I think you are in the boat with the rest of us, thanks for your post. Sadly, it looks like Microsoft forgot to make this work on Windows 10. On Windows 8.1 and on my Windows 8.1 smartphone it works, no problem, but not on Windows 10.

Yup, the charms are removed in Windows 10 and the project to other screen can be found as you say, with Windows key + P.  Also you can search for 'project to a second screen'.  But that doesn't help, the 'Connect' function doesn't find the MWDA.
