Is SlimCleaner Plus Really a Microsoft Partner as its Window Shows

An open window entitled SlimCleaner Plus periodically opens on my Desktop. In its title bar it shows an icon that says it is a Microsoft Partner. The SlimCleaner window looks very slick and believable. It declares in highly warning text that my computer has thousands of errors and had a large "Fix Now" button. It shows a breakdown of the number of errors of various types and locations, including Registry errors, System errors, Program errors and many others in other similarly important places.

MY FIRST QUESTION IS:  Is SlimCleaner Plus Really a Microsoft Partner as its Window Shows or is it Malware that should be uninstalled?

MY SECOND QUESTION IS:  If SlimCleaner Plus is bogus and should be removed, how do I uninstall?

This will tell you all about it and how to remove it. You do not want it and it is not a Microsoft Partner.

Follow the instructions here. If it is not listed in the Control Panel, or cannot be removed there, skip to the next step. HitmanPro may not be needed.

I downloaded an updated driver from Microsoft. I went on about my business but noticed there was a new icon on the desktop, SlimCleaner. I checked the program files and the Slim program had also downloaded. I deleted the icon, since I have McAfee Security, I did not need the Cleaner. After that strange things started happening, first I noticed the cursor would just start wandering around the screen; when scrolling the screen would go all the way to the bottom of the page; not able to move the cursor where I wanted. I went to the command screen to uninstall SlimCleaner and a window would pop up asking if I would allow SlimCleaner to make updates on my computer, when I said no, the uninstall would stop. Later, a window would pop open and say I had all sorts of problems and did I want to run a full scan. Every time I tried to uninstall this program, same thing. What bothered me most is that the pop up window claimed that SlimCleaner was part of Microsoft Development. I began checking and found this page!!! Thank goodness. The Revo Uninstaller took it right out. It makes you wonder though... what was the program doing if not bad things? It seems like morethan just an unwanted program, seems like a fishing program. Would like to know. I have changed all my passwords just in case. Oh, yeah, their facebook page is full of complaints...

SlimWare Utilities Inc. actually is a real company and SlimCleaner is a cleaner which actually works and as long as you made the choice to use it. I would recommend other better alternatives like Advanced System Care, Wise Care 365. Or better stay with the tried and proven CCleaner.

I downloaded an updated driver from Microsoft.

What driver you downloaded from Microsoft?

See this probably related thread/post from http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/profile/b396062b-0b73-4028-b127-5514d7fa6469[Bill Smithers](http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/profile/b396062b-0b73-4028-b127-5514d7fa6469 "Bill Smithers"):

You don't get Drivers through Windows Update, unless they are Microsoft Products.

*You should obtain your Driver Software from your Computer or Hardware Manufacturer, **not through Windows Update (except for Mictosoft Hardware Updates),*as Microsoft normally does nor have those latest Drivers available as Microsoft relies on the 3rd Party Hardware Manufacturer to supply them.

Go to your Computer or Hardware Manufacture's website > Driver and Software Support Section > look up your Computer or Hardware Model number > then your Operating System > locate the correct Drivers > download and install them.

    Examples:

    Dell Drivers:

    HP Drivers:

    http://www8.hp.com/us/en/drivers.html

    Acer Drivers:

The Revo Uninstaller took it right out. It makes you wonder though... what was the program doing if not bad things? It seems like more than just an unwanted program, seems like a fishing program.

You need to remove - not only 'SlimCleaner' - but everything "SlimWare Utilities" that might have installed (DriverUpdater, for example?) there without your knowledge.

For a deeper cleanup... Did you use the tools (AdwCleaner and MBAM Free - in particular) suggested in the Removal Guide recommended above by Bruce?
