Let me first start off by saying that windows 10 has been an absolutely DREADFUL experience, with several core features actually bricking my computer, and now i have a problem with these two programs installed with the computer that i cannot remove or disable under any means because there is no group policy editor on windows 10, what a joke microsoft, really? Now i have to come and ask you all, how do i completely remove and disable these absolutely trashy programs because they are causing such a hassle.

Windows10 will be remembered as one of Microsoft’s greatest achievements, once the bugs get worked out. But quite a few people are having problems with it right now because it still has some bugs, and some compatibility issues with third-party programs, and also because upgrading is an inherently problematic thing. At this point, many people want to remove Windows Defender because they’re experiencing persistent problems with it crashing, using too much CPU, failing to update, etc., and haven’t found a fix. Other people might just find it ineffective against malware.

Removing Windows Defender in Windows 10 was meant to be safe and easy, because no one is trying to prevent you from choosing another AV app. As soon as you install a third-party AV app, the Windows Security Center should turn off Windows Defender, as Anannya Podder suggested. But this hasn’t been happening consistently because of compatibility issues with some of the third-party AV products and other issues that come into play with an upgrade. So I’ve posted a simplified guide for salvaging Windows Defender or switching to another AV app here:

    Hi,

You would not be able to uninstall Windows Defender as it comes inbuilt with the Windows 10 Operating System. However, it will disable it self if you install any other antivirus software.
