Windows 8 - Keyboard Keys Not Working

Anonymous

Hello,

I have an issue with the keyboard keys not working.

Its usually one or 2 letters

Keys will work in other applications, for eg. i type in www. into chrome and the w doesnt work but everything else does, leaving chrome open ill open another app like IE and 'W' works.

Key combinations change can be any letter at any time, can work fine for a long time then just happen.

Happens in any application

Windows is up to date, drivers are recent.

Running SSD's and 3 Screens

Anyone seen this?

Thanks

Had same issue in windows 10, keyboard was fine for awhile which i am using a razor keyboard....it would work in the browser but not on any applications ? found out if i type to fast the keyboard stops except in browsers only thing i found that help was right clicking in a blank space and hitting refresh then the keyboard works again..never had this problem in windows 7 so there must be some conflict some where.

    Hi,

    1.      Have you made any change to the computer prior to the issue occurred?

    2.      What is the make and model number of the computer?

    3.      Are you using a laptop or desktop?

    4.      Are you using the external keyboard?

    5.      Does this happen only with the particular programs?

Method 1: I would suggest you to run hardware and devices troubleshooter and see if that helps.

    a. **** Press Windows Key +R, type Control Panel.

    b. Type troubleshooting in the search bar, click on troubleshooting.

    c. Click on Hardware and Sound, click on Hardware and Devices.

    d. Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: Put the computer in a Clean Boot state to see if there is any software conflict as clean boot helps in eliminating software conflicts.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After performing the troubleshooting steps in clean boot, follow Steps from the link to return the computer to Normal startup mode.

Method 3: Update the drivers for the Keyboard.

Follow these steps to un-install the Graphics driver:

    a. Drag the mouse to bottom left corner and right-click on the “Start icon”.

    b. Look for the Keyboard drivers.

    d. Right-click on the keyboard drivers and click on “update drivers”.

    Refer to the link:

Hope this helps, if you have any further queries, feel free to post. We will be glad to assist you.

    Hi Vikrant,

    1.      Have you made any change to the computer prior to the issue occurred?

    No its fresh

    2.      What is the make and model number of the computer?

    its one i built

    3.      Are you using a laptop or desktop?

    desktop

    4.      Are you using the external keyboard?

its hardwired assuming thats what you mean.

    5.      Does this happen only with the particular programs?

happens in all windowed applications eg. not in fullscreen games

i wont do a cleanboot as it may take days for it to come happen sometimes.

all drivers are up to date.

Also would like to mention that im a pc techie myself and i just cant figure this one out and its my own PC. Ever since windows 8 came out ive seen alot of odd things like mirrored text in metro which ended up being a corrupt profile O_O

Anyway i think this may go on for a while. i have not tried using another keyboard.
