You can go to settings, storage sense and select to store new apps on the phone.
Try to install one app. If this works then you know the problem is with your SD card.

I can't install or update apps on my Lumia 535, the problem is going on for a month, I contacted customer support
and they told me to try soft reset and if that doesn't work a factory reset, I tried both soft resets and factory reset that restored the
phone to its original settings. Nothing worked! Now I have lost the apps I had on my phone before, this seems to be a faulty device
as there is nothing wrong with my internet connection. What do I do in this situation and how do I get my apps back? This phone is totally useless now.

I have always stored apps on my phone, only stored on SD as a backup before doing the reset.
Apps are stored on the phone, that's not the issue!
Obviously I had the apps on my phone and installed them when I purchased the phone. The problem
is going on for a month or so, I couldn't install new apps or update any apps, the download would just stay pending for days. It doesn't show any error, it just stays pending.
I have tried installing on both WIFI and 3G. Nothing works! I contacted support and they told me to do a factory reset and now I have lost all my apps, somehow the
SD card didn't store any apps.
I don't think there is a problem with the MS account, as the customer support never mentioned any such thing.
After a phone reset all apps have to be installed again, even if they are on the SD card.
So, after the reset, app installs fail and are stuck on 'pending' and you have 'install new apps to the phone' set in storage sense?
There must be a problem with your MS account, not with your phone, as it seems to work well otherwise. What error message exactly do you get when you try to install or update apps ? Presumably this used to work for you previously as you state that after the reset you lost apps which you already had. Are you using mobile data or a wifi connection ?
