How do I get HP Officejet 5610 Full Software from HP website to extract properly & install my printer?

I have been trying to install my Officejet 5610 on my Windows 7 computer to have full functionality of the printer.  The original CD does not install.  I have tried to download and extract the full feature software (includes the drivers) from the HP website, but after the download gets to 99% extraction, it just disappears and absolutely nothing happens.  I have tried this many many times.  I have tried downloading directly from the HP website and have also used the HP Print and Scan Doctor and the HP Printer Install Wizard.  All the same result.  My system is 64-bit.  There are many other people who had the same problem with no apparent solution.  HP no longer offers support for this printer.  It installs with Windows 7, so it does print and also does the basics with Windows Fax and Scan, but I would like all the original software it came with.  I know it's an old printer, but it's almost a matter of principle now for me to get it to work the way it should.  Something is preventing the HP software from installing, and I would like to know how to remedy this.

Thank you for taking the time to consider my problem and respond.  Good suggestion, and the instructions in the link were easy to follow to carry out the clean boot and reset the computer to start as usual after trying to install the HP software; however, this did not, unfortunately, solve the installation issue.  HP has responded to a support request made on their website, and after spending an hour with remote assistance, the issue is still not resolved.  HP support will be calling me back again (had to do a back-up in the interim), to work me through a solution.  Thanks again, and if there are any other ideas, I would be happy to know.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are unable to install the printer software. We will assist you to resolve the issue.

I suggest you to place the computer in Clean Boot state and then try to perform installation.

A Clean Boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista. You may also troubleshoot or determine what conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot.

Please refer the steps given in the link below to perform a Clean Boot:

Note: Please go through the section: How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot of the Kb article to boot the computer in normal startup after fixing the issue.

Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

    Thank you.
