Thank you for answering this question for me and yes I think Norton or mcafee came with my laptop but never activated it. I just went ahead and reset my whole laptop to factory mode and it let me uninstall Avg 2015.

    Tina,

Download a FREE (Version: 1.95) program called Revo Uninstaller

    http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html>.

it will uninstall any program completely including trace files of programs. works grəat, you shouldn't have any more problems reinstalling after you uninstall with this program.

Just  DON'T allow the computer to reboot if the uninstall portion of Revo asks if you want to reboot now or  later

Select later and allow Revo to finish səarching for orphan registry entries.

    Reboot after Revo finishes.

    ~

    Also, run the uninstaller tool.

I...reset my whole laptop to factory mode and it let me uninstall Avg 2015.

Did the Reset leave you with Windows 10 or Windows 8.1?

The AVG 2015 free-trial was still installed after you did the Reset, is that correct?

Has a Norton application or a McAfee application EVER been installed on the computer since you bought it?

Did a Norton free-trial or a McAfee free-trial [pick one] come preinstalled on the Win8.1 computer when you bought it? (Doesn't matter if you never used or Activated it.)
