Hello, I am wondering if anyone else experiences this. every time I play a movie from the xbox video app my cpu jumps up to 100 percent and the Media Foundation Protected Pipeline exe is using it all.  I am hoping that someone else has had this issue and figured out how to fix it.

Thanks

I have Windows 10, but have an older two core AMD 450 cpu Lenovo Ideapad, with only 6 Gb of ram, and I am also experiencing high CPU utilization. The Media Foundation Protected Pipeline.EXE is  using most of my CPU process while watching the movie "Entourage 2015" that I rented from the Microsoft App store causing the movie to intermittently jitter and pause, and the audio to cut out, I am sure it's the DRM built into the movie causing the issue. I normally use VLC media player, and do not experience this issue with other non Microsoft downloaded movie's and DVD rentals.

As of 11/24/2015 I have all of the latest updates from Microsoft, and I am on build 10586. I only run Microsoft Defender, and have no other applications installed other then what comes with Windows 10 and I am on build number 10586.

    Hi Woodley,

I would suggest you to run the **app troubleshooter** and restart the computer. Check if you are still facing the issues.

    Let us know the results.

    Hi Rohit

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Yes, this only happens when I play content from the xbox video library. my videos work just fine along with trailers from the xbox video app. However when I rent a movie it will not play... my cpu goes to 100% and the video cant keep up.

I am up today on all the patches (event the optional ones)

    thanks for your help

    Hi Woodley,

Is the issue specific to a particular video?

This issue might occur if the app is not updated. However, follow these methods to troubleshoot the issue:

    Method 1:

I would suggest you to follow these steps and run the System maintenance troubleshooter:

    a. Open **Control panel**.

    b. Click on Troubleshooting.

    c. Click View all on the left pane of the screen.

    d. In the list of options, click on System maintenance.

    e. Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.

    Method 2:

I would suggest you to check if you have installed all the updates on the computer.

    a.     Go to the Start screen.

    b.    Type “Windows update” without quotes and click on it from the list of results.

    c.     Click on Check for updates on the left pane in the new window.

Make sure you have automatic app updates turned on:
