windows defender not blocking potentially unwanted programs(PUP) while browsing

I bought my laptop(DELL) with mcafee anti virus 2 years ago. And recently it has expired. So i removed it and installed windows defender. There onwards i got so many problems. My system installed automatically PUP's like cinema plus, games destop, jogotempo, spacesoundpro service, easy bar etc... without my knowledge. I noticed them and removed manually from my system. Then i got an extension named "Easycalender". It is allowing so many adds on chrome eventhough i had adblocker extension. I tried to remove it but it is saying that "it can't be removed" ,it came into system by "enterprise policy" and allowed by administrator. And atlast i removed it finally by some method. I thought now i was in safe zone. After that i got another problem, my chrome shuts down and installs "cinema plus" automatically. This used to happen for about 20 to 30 times a day. All this had happened eventhough i had windows defender. And i also used to scan the system thouroughly daily.  My friend suggested me to use an anti virus. then I started using. Now my problem solved. Everytime when i am browsing it is showing "a threat blocked, a computer on the internet is sending malicious traffic, this can be an attempt to attack your computer" it is also showing an ip address of that computer.

Atlast i came to know that windows defender can't block malicious items from internet only other anti virus can do it.

Now i am using ESET anti virus, It is a trial version valid for one month. So, Can anyone suggest me a free anti virus which will work for me permanently. And also help me how can i avoid those malicious traffic on the internet???

    Hi thanks for your post

And sorry you are having problems with popups and ads.

Although not entirely sure that any AV's block ads and malware as well as virus( though havent tried them all)

But quite sure they dont due to amount of anti malware/adware tools on market.

I use defender and malwarebytes and have no probs.

    Suggest going to

    https://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-microsoft-edge-popup-ads/

Download and run ALL TOOLS and scan with each reboot between scans.

    This should stop the problem.

Malwarebytes can be upgraded to premium for payment and used with defender and safe browsing you should be prob free.

    Also superantispware from superantispware.com

Another 30 day program available in premium mode

    Edd

As I noted above, Windows Defender does not provide comprehensive protection and that is why you encountered issues with PUPs. So yes you need a separate anti-malware program. I recommend using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware...the free version will not cause any conflicts.

Quote from Malwarebytes HelpDesk Article link I previously provided...

"It is important to note that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware works well and should run alongside antivirus software without conflicts."

    Hi Samrat

Edd here again, Bruce is correct in all he says, also you dont need to purchase an av, just use defender and antimalware.

Your question does it conflict with malwarebytes then answer is NO.

I recommend going to the malewaretips site and run the scans to make sure your system is clean then uninstall all the tools except malwarebytes and turn on defender and uninstall uour other AV.

You can upgrade malwarebytes or keep free version although psid version gives more protection but i have had no probs.

Ìf using edge make sure block popups is switched on

hi quiteman7, thank you for your reply.

In the presence of defender i got pups previously. It didn't blocked pups. So my question is, if i start using again defender, do i need anti malmare tool, and if i needed which is better? does defender runs without conflicts using malwarebytes?
