I would like to update my Nokia Lumia 635 with 512 MB of RAM to Windows 10 Mobile when it comes out. Unfortunately, the Microsoft page about their support for Windows Phones says they will only provide the update for the 1 GB RAM model.
I'm confused why other 512 MB models will get the update (for example, Lumia 520) and we won't, even though the hardware is superior on the 635. I don't want to buy a new phone when I just got this one less than 6 months ago.
Any official answers would be appreciated.
Same question. Planned obsolescence seems to be taking full effect yet again with this generation switch of Windows Phones. Who on earth has a 1gig RAM Lumia 635? If I even knew of such a device I would have gotten it instead of the 512RAM, because of similar limitations placed on the upgradeable state of W7 512mb RAM devices when W8 came out. This is bad news for most Lumia devices, since they will likely face a much longer wait time before even finding out that their device will not be upgradeable. I'm not excited about getting a fourth Windows phone in less than two years, just to stay up to date. I may have to switch Manufacturers, after staying through some very turbulent times dealing with these phones.
